Running from 23-30 August, the Kenilworth Club of Soroptimist International have created the ‘Women of Empowerment’ walking trail around Kenilworth. The trail runs between Kenilworth Castle and Jubilee House but can be started at any point along its route.
Along the route you will discover displays representing one hundred women, who Club members feel have empowered women locally, nationally or globally, in diverse ways, and who may be historical or contemporary figures. Local women Margaret Kite and Molly Bufton-Stear will take their place alongside Elizabeth I, Rosa Parks, Amy Johnson and Boudica.
Trail maps will be available from Kenilworth Books, The Treehouse Bookshop and Marian Shaw for a voluntary donation of £1 in support of the Kenilworth charity ’the Parenting Project’. Included are quizzes for adults and children, with prizes.
The trail is a way of celebrating 100 years of Soroptimist International, a global volunteer movement whose members work to transform the lives of women and girls locally, nationally and internationally.
