An enigma chock full of myths! There is no evidence for Henry III holding parliament here during the siege (the Abbey being a more likely venue – with a roof!), parliamentary troops may have camped here during the Civil War, but apart from a few musket balls the evidence is thin. We can say that the land was donated by Miss Helen Martin, the pond is the remnants of an old gravel pit and the area is today managed as a traditional hay meadow.
Cross Coventry Road onto Water Tower Lane and right down Tainters HIll. At Manor Road turn left, cross the bridge and right onto footpath by the brook.
