Distance: 1.98 miles|Time: 2 hours
Start: Castle Gatehouse Car Park, Castle Rd, Kenilworth CV8 1NF
Meander through the heart of Kenilworth along the route of the Finham Brook as it flows through the town. The walk is about 2 miles long and takes 1 hour, extending to 2+ hours depending on the time you spend learning about the history and landscape. It’s mainly easy paths, but the area is within a floodplain, so it can be inaccessible and muddy close to riverbanks, especially in Abbey Fields. Proceed with care with children when near water. Lace your walking boots or pull on your wellies, take a flask or picnic and delve into the layers of history, and biodiversity of the Brook and its surroundings.
Note: Castle Gatehouse Car Park is free but can be crowded. The Queen and Castle Car Park is pay per hour, or free if you choose to eat there first.
From the Castle Car Park, take a short stroll westwards (not Castle Hill) past Castle Green then where the road turns, take a left down Purlieu Lane.
