Lets get mobile on the Kenilworth Trails!

You may have seen the new Visit Kenilworth trail leaflets? Well we’ve added an extra dimension to the trails with the first Visit Kenilworth Mobile Trail version, the Nature Trail, ready to go!

Visit Kenilworth Mobile Trails?

These mobile trails include the same route and take you to the same great places as the paper versions. But they also allow us to add more detail and provide you with more information and interpretation as you go. Each point of interest features extra, optional content, such as; species guides, to help you identify the various plants and animals you might see, and deeper dives into the history or ecology of the environment in which you are standing. Interested to know more about Herons? Or perhaps you are wondering about the history of The Kenilworth Greenway? Or even want some tips on bat spotting in Abbey Fields? We’ve got your covered!  We have also added in lots of external links to useful resources and sites where you can find out more about any subject.

You’ll also be able to locate yourself on a dynamic google map (so there’s no excuse to get lost!) as well as easily grab a copy of the trail leaflet as a .pdf file if you prefer static instructions. Its all wrapped in a minimalist mobile-ready webpage template, so there’s no additional downloading or extra apps required. In fact the whole trail is the equivalent of just browsing a few web pages!

Important information on using

A few words of caution however. You will of course need an active mobile data connection to make this work, and whilst reception in Kenilworth is generally good it can be a little patchy in some more remote areas. We’ve had it working all the way round the nature trail, even if a little slow out in Crackley Wood! Also remember these mobile trails are designed for, well, mobile devices, so they won’t look great on your laptop!

Finally the exciting bit, is that this is all a work in progress, we’ll be tweaking and adding to these trails (as well as releasing the Heritage and Castle & Abbey Trail soon!) over the next six months and have some cool ideas about augmented reality, interactive treasure hunts and plenty more. So watch this space!
